Sunrise on Zabriskie Point is beautiful and with the rising or setting of the sun brings color changes that are amazing and rock formations come alive. If you are a photographer you must get up an hour or two before sunrise and drive and walk to see anything in the park but this point especially if you want to enjoy the full power of the landscape.

Zabriskie Point is named in honor of Christian B. Zabriskie who was a prominent figure in the area during the late 1800's and early 1900's. Top Tip: This is a popular sunrise destination in the park, so even if you arrive early, you might get your view spoiled by people hopping over the lookout fence in front of you. Zabriskie Point Trail is a very short, .4 mile trail that takes visitors from the parking lot to the main overlook & viewpoint. The trail has very limited elevation and is an accessible trail. The viewpoint at the end of the trail is one of the most famous in the entire park and one of the best places in the park to catch a sunrise.

One of the "must see" areas is Zabriskie Point. Manly Beacon is the high triangular-shaped outcrop on the right. Manly Beacon was named in honor of William L. Manly, who along with John Rogers, guided members of the ill-fated Forty-niners out of Death Valley during the gold rush of 1849. Get to this spot well before sunrise.

Day 2 - Zabriskie Point, Mosaic Canyon, Ubehebe Crater & More Sunrise at Zabriskie Point. If you're only taking 2 days to explore Death Valley, I highly recommend starting your second day by viewing the sunrise. It can be a push to get up early enough for sunrise, which can be as early as 5:30am depending on the time of year but trust me.
